How to choose the perfect bar stool?

How to choose the perfect bar stool?

The most important measurements you need to know are: (1) the height from the floor to the underside of your kitchen counter; and (2) the height from the floor to the top of your bar stool seat.

In Singapore, the default height for counters are 90cm. To ensure the most comfort when you sit, make sure to leave at least 20-25cm of space from the top of your bar stool seat to the underside of your kitchen counter. Therefore, if your bar counter is 90cm, your bar stool should be 65-70cm tall.

For taller bar counters, you should leave 20-30cm of space from the top of your bar stool seat to the underside of your kitchen counter. So, if your bar counter is 105cm, your bar stool should be 75-85cm tall.

Accommodate for the Width and Depth of Your Bar Stools

Make sure to space out your bar stools at least 15cm away on each side so that you'll have enough space to turn around or to get down from your seat without knocking into the person beside you.

If you're placing your bar stools in a narrow area, it's better to go for backless bar stools as they take up less depth. A bar stool with back with take up at least 50cm depth. Make sure there is enough clear space to accommodate that if you're opting for a bar stool with back.
